History

In the 1990; with the rapid growth of multinational companies in Pune, the need for high quality suitable education was strongly evident and increasingly urgent. Following the initiative of the original German medium school, opened in 1995. The Mercedes-Benz Education Academy was established by seven founding members as a non-profit trust under the Indian law. It is an important organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act 1850 as well as Bombay Trust Act.

The purpose of Mercedes-Benz Education Academy is promote international education at Mercedes-Benz International School which later for the needs of the expatriate families as well as internationally minded Indian parents and opened its doors in August 1998.

MBIS was originally housed in fine bungalows in the heart of Pune city. 13th February 2003 witness the move of the school to its new purpose built site I Pune’s premier Infotech Park.

The school now has a beautiful campus situated on four acres of land. The school is fully equipped with sports field, Swimming pools, laboratories for science, Visual and performing Arts, cafeteria, two libraries and media centres, learning support, and boarding facilities. MBIS was the first school authorised to teach the International Baccalaureate’s Primary and Middle years programme. It is now authorised to teach the IB Diploma programme and is one of only160 school worldwide to be accepted by the prestigious Council of International Schools.
