"We did research and presentation for the first time in the ESL class. On the 14 Jan Ms Lakshmi told us how research work is done and asked us to choose a topic. We then went to the library to check out reference books. We gathered information from books and websites. It took us 3 days to complete our rough draft. On the 4th day we made our final draft and added pictures to it. Next day we made models and practiced for the presentation. We presented our work in the assembly. We were very happy and proud of our work. We are looking forward to our next project."

The Learner Profile essays...…

I think the Learner Profile helps us be a better person.

  1. I think I am an inquirer because I ask many questions.
  1. I think I am knowledgeable because I have watched many documentaries.
  2. I think I am a thinker because I think in a lot of detail about things when I am bored.
  3. I think I am a communicator because I can talk with manners to teachers.
  4. I am principled because I admit to my mistakes in class.
  5. I am open minded because I accept the difference of others instead of making fun of them.
  6. I am caring because I help my classmates if they have problems.
  7. I am a risk taker because I approach assignments with courage.
  8. I am balanced because I understand the importance of emotion.
  9. I am reflective because I know what my limits are and what I can do well.

The Learner Profile consists of many traits a person may have. I believe I am principled and a communicator. I think so because I communicate well with my friends and also in class discussions. I feel that I express my ideas well, and also know when not to talk. I think I am also principled because I give everyone a fair chance and don’t like it when things get unfair. It is also very important to always believe in what is right even if you are against your best friends. Just recently I stood up for someone I believe that didn’t do anything wrong, but got into trouble. Overall I feel that the Learner Profile is a very important thing in MBIS.

A Splash of Colour!!!

Times NIE Colour Splash is one-of–a-kind painting competition. The event was organised by Times NIE in association with Wonder Funkey. The venue for the same was at Wonder Futura near Chandani Chowk, on February 9, 2008.  The two students who participated were Jahaan Shah of MYP 2M and Su Min Ju of MYP 3. The topic for the competition was  

‘The Wonders of my World’

The students spent their Saturday doing what they enjoy doing most!

More NIE news

The Times NIE Fundamental Quiz, the biggest quiz in Pune was brought to us, in association with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. It was held at the Alpa Bachat Sankul, on February 15th 2008. 110 teams from Pune schools participated .From MBIS the participants were from the MYP4. Siddhanth Sheorey, Tushar Soni & Abhi Raundal worked very hard and gave their best.

The entire process of participating was a challenging learning experience.

And some IDU news

MYP 2 had their Vikings presentation on February 14th 2008, in the Auditorium; it was an IDU with Music, Visual Art and History.

We studied and researched on how Vikings live at sea, at home and what evidence we have found. In History we had to research and create a script, in Music we took the information and created a song, and for Visual Art we made props that we would use in the play.  At the end of the day, all the students were very happy with the good performances they put up.

  - The MYP 3 put their trip to Ranthambore, Jaipur and Agra to very good use when they had an IDU with Language A, Language B ( French and German), Math, ICT and Geography.  They conducted a lot of research, prepared graphs, and also made beautiful brochures in French and German.

The Piano Recital was held on the 15th February at the end of the day. Many students from MYP and DP showed off their piano abilities. It was enjoyable to watch and everyone enjoyed an interesting day!

On Thursday 28th February, the MYP 1,2 and 3 went to the Pune University for the Science Fair. Some were so impressed that they want to make a telescope for the school based on what they learnt there. All the best!!
