About the MYP

The Middle Years Programme provides a curriculum which allows students to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to participate effectively in life in the twenty-first century.  The concept of balance is fundamental to the programme in a number of ways.

The MYP aims to develop internationally-minded independent learners.

The MYP is a course of study designed to meet the educational requirements of students aged between 11 and 16 years. It is a complete and coherent programme providing academic challenges and introducing life skills appropriate at this stage of adolescence. It fosters understanding among young people around the world and creates intercultural awareness which will prepare them for a more peaceful and productive future. It also lays emphasis on personal value systems by which to guide their own lives as thoughtful members of local communities and larger world.

The MYP builds upon Primary Years Programme and serves as an excellent preparation for the Diploma Programme. The 8 subject groups of the MYP provide a broad traditional foundation of knowledge and at the same time increases the students’ awareness of the relationships between subjects. Students are encouraged to question and evaluate information critically, to seek out and explore the links between subjects and to develop an awareness of their place in the world.
