The primary objective of the Parent Teacher Association is to promote close co-operation and contact between parents and the school and to support the school in the general welfare of all students.
All parents/guardians and permanent staff of the school are automatically entitled to become members. Parent Teacher Association meetings are held once a month during term time and parents are encouraged to join and take an active role in the running of the Association. Details of Parent Teacher Association meetings are published in the newsletter .
The Executive Committee of the Association consists of the President, Treasurer and Secretary. There is also a General Committee made up of a maximum of 30 members. The President and the Executive Committee meets with the Head of School each term to discuss matters relating to the parent community and other relevant issues.
Please note that the PTA does not extend to matters pertaining to the Educational Policy. Such matters should be referred directly to the School Director. Individual student matters should
be referred to the respective Class Teachers.
The group also organises fund raising activities, coffee mornings and other events throughout the year - so that the Association can help to enhance the working and recreational environment of the students . We welcome Parents to come out and get more
involved in these activities and to volunteer themselves so as to be more active and participate.
At MBIS each class has at least one parent representative (Class Parent) who does the following:
- Welcomes new parents.
- Arranges social events for their class.
- Liaises with the class teacher or tutor .
- Arranges for parent volunteer help in the classroom as requested .
- Canvasses for help when needed with PA activities .
- Provides a communication link between school and families .
The Class Parents are an important part of the communication chain at the school and it is also a great way to meet new people and be involved.
